During some time out this weekend, I had the opportunity to watch an awesome film on my newly acquired Sky HD box via the Sky Anytime feature, that film was Seven Swords.
It’s certainly a while since I last got to sit down and enjoy some Martial Arts on screen and this was no disappointment, what I would consider to be an epic in it’s own right with a tale of love, betrayal, heroism and magic swords. What more could you want from a film?
The thing that caught my eye with this film was the beginning (sort of what happens to me with books, I either switch on to it immediately or not at all), a bunch of downright evil looking barbarian types (think Mad Max) start slaughtering the innocent with a multitude of insane weaponry. Umbrella’s that remove heads, wierd farming devices that remove limbs and all out madness ensues which leaves a poor village decimated, and that was only the beginning!
Now I know what you are thinking? A bit different from your last post huh? Well yeah but it is time we got down a dirty and I do love a good Martial Arts flick! You can’t have insane weaponry without some poor soul catching the sharp end and you know the good guys always win right? Good, so lets move on…
The general gist of the movie is that some emperor dude has decided to kill everyone that practises Martial Arts as he sees them as a threat so he has hired crazy weapon wielding nasties to go out and kill them all. The downside for the nasties is that little did they know there were awesome warriors hidden in a mountain that would come and kick their behinds with cool swords, shame on them for not anticipating it!
I could rabbit on for a while about the cool cinematic’s etc but really what I want to do is throw you straight into the action so you can experience some of the uberness and then go watch it for yourself. I know there have been some folk slating the film but quite frankly they are wrong, this is a great film that I would recommend to anyone.
I am probably late with this one but I thought I should share it seeing as it just rocked my socks about half an hr ago, I would have posted it sooner but I was watching people do amazing things and restoring my faith in the human race. More on that in my next post but until then, feast your eyes on this…
I know this animal / robot thing has been done before and possibly over used but for some reason this kinda leapt out at me, I especially like the bit where the rear wheels turn into legs.
Oh my god…. The Spiderman 3 teaser trailer has appeared for us to enjoy. I am a huge spiderman fan as some of you may know and I have been looking forward to this for a while, well since the last film actually
Man I wish I had HD on all of my hardware, my mate has an HD projector that I am very envious of, he put me onto the teaser last night and then told me he was off to download it in HD and check it on his projector… What a dick!!!
Please let me know what you think of the trailer, I know it has my movie juices flowing The next thing on the cards definitely has to be the Transformers movie which will no doubt be awesome too although it isn’t out until next year… bummer huh?
What movies are you looking forward to? Am I missing anything else that I should really be turning my attention to? Caroline just rearranged our living room yesterday which means I can now use my Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound system again when watching movies, you have no idea how sad I am, I have taken to listening to films almost more than watching them when i have the digital sound.
Lord only knows how many times I have watched the rescue of Morpheus in The Matrix at extreme volume and gotten a boner when the mini gun goes off and I can hear shells falling behind me and water splashing up my walls and bullets fly past my ears… The bit where Neo dodges the agents bullets for the first time as they scream out of a Desert Eagle towards him is just one of the best sounds ever…
Well seeing as I am getting my ass kicked at Asteroids, I figured I would give you a quick blast of some martial arts action of the comedy variety. Don’t believe I have seen this film but I have seen a few with Cynthia Rothrock in them and she is pretty much nails but this is truely funny…
Dunno about you people out there on the interweb but I enjoyed the first 2 Spiderman films and am really excited about getting to see the 3rd installment.
