Okay, this is not what a space ship is supposed to look like in EVE Online, I was minding my own business on a mission trying to blow stuff up and I made the mistake of nearly getting blown up myself (hence all the fire). How did this come about I hear you ask? Well, I have come to the conclusion that I am not very good at the game yet! EVE is not a quick fix game, from what I can gather it is going to take a long time to learn the in’s and out’s of how to fight and how to defend myself, I am looking forward to it.
Today I was reading a thread on a forum about some of the nasty things people have done in game and it made for an interesting read. It certainly opened my eyes to some things to look out for. I am beginning to learn to trust noone apart from my corp buddies. Here are a couple of devious things that I liked:
Last night when i flew around beeing bored, i found a offline POS…
Warped in to it and popped 3x Mobile laboratories (90m each) with my Impairor, which took less than 20min (i think).
After that i “had” to send a message to the CEO of the corp owning the POS, telling him that he just lost POS equipment worth 270m isk to a rookie ship YARRRR!!
That is quite amusing but this is pure class… excuse the EVE lingo, I will look into translating it for you and adding it to my library of acronyms and abbreviations…
i made a 1man griefing corp and dec’d an ASCN newb training corp. flying round in an uber gank munnin of doom as they flapped about with 3 BS lots of cruisers and frigs in empire, smacking me for not engaging.
I consistantly told them i had a spy in the corp and that for 300mil i would end the war. and for 500mil i would end the war, and reveal the spy. I did this all the time, as simply another method of causing paranoia and hysteria within the corp. this lead to them getting more desperate, and eventually taking the 300mil tag and disbanding.
the swinging point was i warped to the station they based out of, and the main fleet was the other side, but as i dropped out i saw an osprey warp to a belt (only thing in that direction) i followed at range, hit him to half armor and he got out. he convo’d me within seconds and started asking how i knew he was there. i obviously replied saying my spy told me etc. Then i get convo from a head honcho saying “hang on…. isk sent, who is the spy?” i checked my wallet and straight from the ASCN main he had sent me 500mil.
I quickly browsed thru ppl online who i had buddylisted and picked out one poor git. who hadnt been there long etc, i said i couldnt provide proof as i was at my GFs for the week, but ill provide when i get back.
get back home a week later and get a convo asking for proof, quickly photoshoped it up, and sent it, the head honcho said “thanks, we felt bad the other night as we podded XXX and he didnt understand on TS, even after we flamed him, he really did sound innocent” i said “well theres the proof” and off i flew 500mil richer
One of the things I find interesting about EVE is it is dog eat dog, there are no scrupals in space! The sheer scale of the game and the amount of things that can and do go on is quite astounding, so what if my ship is on fire and it looks stupid, it’ll happen again and probably hundreds of times.
I am about to go outside and put the fires out, I have my hull repair modules at the ready and makeup ready to cover up the red face and will go out and do it all again, I love this game and I openly invite you all to come join me on my travels. I am in this for the long haul, hopefully I will see you about when my ship isn’t on fire!
Here’s to space travel!

Holy cow! I was just over at Subsector and found a juicy as hell snippet of information that has just made my day. As if EVE Online is not good enough already, it looks like they are going to allow you to leave your ship and walk about space stations in the not too distant future. I have to say this is a really interesting development and you can watch the video over at Ten Ton Hammer.
Eve online is a game of truely epic proportions and it looks like the size went epic+1… That’s big in my book!

Okay, so I was working yesterday and as per usual I heard almighty thumps coming from upstairs. This is not an unusual thing because my daughter, although small has apparently got the mass of 4 galaxies combined with 200 elephants and a couple of tanks and has a tendancy to bang at every opportunity she gets. So what was different about this occasion? On going through to the bottom of my stairs to have my standard moan at her and her friend she emerges from my bedroom to say “What?”. I ask her what the hell she is up in to my my room with her friend to which she replies…
We’re playing badminton!
I have seen many things in my time but this one took the biscuit… Perhaps I should try it if I ever get some leisure time.

I ended up having a bit of a cruise online tonight and stumbled across this, it made me chuckle so I thought I would share.
I am so looking forward to getting a nice shiny Wii when they come out, I have fought and won a desparate battle with an urge to go out and buy and XBOX 360 but the Wii just looks like so much more fun.
Anyone else got any cool Wii video’s to share?

Well this is certainly a turn up for the books, I wrote a while back about how I tried to boot up a couple of games on my XBOX and it had decided to pack in, well yesterday I stuck Ghost Recon 2 in just to try it again and it fired up no worries
I am chuffed to bits because I have been getting a little frustrated at the lack of gaming and Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound in my life, but now it has returned with a bang. Now to the downside of my little surprise, Ghost Recon is way tough! I never ever played the first one and picked this copy up out of ASDA because it was rediculously cheap and I fancies a good shooter, I guess it is going to take a while to get my head round. Either that or there are too many cobwebs on my thumbs and fingers and I just haven’t got the skills anymore lol…
Another bonus surrounding this is that I actually get a 2mth XBOX live trial with the game, time to dust off my fighting talk and get myself online to whip some folks, I bet it is me that gets the cuffing though! Gimme a shout if you have a copy of Ghost Recon 2 and play on live and I will come in past for a game one I activate my trial.
Seeing as my XBOX decided it was going to play ball, I chucked in the other game I bought for cheap which was the Fantastic 4 game. The game is mediocre at best and it kinda reminds me a little of something like Streets of Rage which was a scrolling beatem up from years ago that I loved to bits, the general idea being that you stroll about beating the crap out of baddies. I guess that stands to reason seeing as you are playing some of the most famous super heroes of all time.
I enjoy romping about doing combo moves and beating up hordes of bad guys, there is something quite enjoyable about it, the thing that got my goat about the game was the dodgy camera angle. It is shakey in first player but when me and my daughter Charlotte were playing it, it got well out of hand at times and put me off getting too into it. Charlotte liked it though so I will probably go back and play some more…
Okay, so thats a little bit of good news from me, I hope that you are all having such good luck too… I’m off to get thrashed at Ghost Recon 2 again before I go to bed…
Sweet dreams!

There has been a lot of Console Wars over the years and I have kind of been all over the shop with regards to what I have been playing and what platform I have been playing on. At the moment the UK is beginning of it’s first batch of XBOX 360’s and I’m sure that folk are enjoying themselves and to a certain extent I am jealous, I am however looking forward to seeing what Nintendo are bringing to the table.
