Az, Caz & Co is the online home of Alan White, a web developer who lives in Dunfermline , loves to mess about online and play with new technologies.

I am definitely a net geek that spends most of my time keeping up with RSS feeds and learning new techniques but when I switch off I like to spend time with my family, snowboard, record music, skate mini ramps, watch films or play a decent game on one of my many consoles (feel free to take me on…).

I first cut my teeth in web design when I was at college years ago when I built my first website for Jungle Nation - a Drum and Bass night I have been MC’ing at for 9yrs.

9 years on and I have worked on a wide variety of stuff and worked for one of the best digital agencies in the country but I now freelance and run my own business called Alan White Web Development. Recently I have taken it upon myself to put on a conference called The Highland Fling - Web Standards in Scotland which is bringing some of the top names in the business to Scotland. Perhaps you would like to come too?

What is this blog about?

This site started out as a place to keep folk up to date with family shinanigans but has now developed into my online playground. It started out with a kubrick theme, moved to a customised K2 installation and now this is my first theme from scratch.

What do I write about?

Day to day life is kinda hectic so this site has become somewhere where I post things of interest, funny videos, snippets on technology and sites that I figure may amuse or help people. I am always open to suggestions on what you may like to see on the site so feel free to contact me.

So what’s with the design?

Funny you should ask… The design is supposed to represent several things which I will now explain. First up, I should explain that I like to monkey around and many folk will testify to that. Also, when I am on a microphone at Jungle Nation, my alter ego / MC name is Bass Monkey and this is why there is a monkey holding a microphone.

Next up is the record player below which represents both my love of music and if you take a closer look you will notice a floppy drive, this is to represent the geek in me. If you want to find out more about the record player I suggest you go read up as it is quite a clever creation and I love the thought provoking reasons for its coming into existance.

The final thing I wanted to do with this design was play with typography, for years web design has relied heavily on images to show fancy fonts etc. I wanted to take a step back and rely on text to act as the design, I am no typography expert so I may not hit the nail on the head but I think I have made a good balance and I hope you do too.

I hope you may have a slightly better idea of who I am and what this site is about. I hope that you find it as much fun to be around as I do, and now that I’ve spent some time on the relaunch I am going to continue to pour my love and passion into it and tinker, tweak and of course write until my heart is content.
