The Highland Fling - Web Standards in Scotland

Well, the cat’s out of the bag, over the last few months I have been a busy little bee trying to bring some of the best minds in web development to Scotland and low and behold I present to you The Highland Fling – Web Standards in Scotland.

The conference is aimed at bringing together the Scottish web development community so that we can all meet each other and have some fun whilst learning from the best in the industry. I’d like to take this opportunity to invite you all along, the tickets are not on sale quite yet but if you would like to register your interest then I will be back in touch as soon as they go on sale. So, on to the details.

The Event

This inaugural Highland Fling conference will cover the topic of progressive enhancement and is designed to make developers aware of both the benefits and pitfalls involved of using such technologies, how to use them, when not to use them, and what the future holds.

The event will be held at the Symposium Hall in Edinburgh on the 5th of April 2007, if you are interested you can track the event over at Upcoming.

The Speakers & Sessions

  • Christian Heilmann – Progressive enhancement using JavaScript / AJAX

Great to see such a fine line-up of speakers coming to Scotland Alan, nice work. I’m all paid-up and really looking forward to it a lot.

BTW, if you’ve ever in Alloa POP in for a cuppa. :-)

Hey Dan, I too am looking forward to such a great line-up of speakers coming to Scotland. Couldn’t have picked a better bunch if I had done it myself lol…

On a more serious note, glad you are getting excited about it. I promise not to disappoint, this conference means just as much to me as it does to every other developer that is happy to see it happen.

Looking forward to meeting you and having a cuppa, we really aren’t that far from each other. I am hoping that a lot more web developers will be doing the same once the conference is all done and dusted.

    Thanks for coming in past.

Definitely. As well as the papers/speakers on the day am looking forward to putting some faces to some bloggers from north of the Border. These things are always as much about meeting people as they are about what people are talking about. On that note I’ll be the lanky chap chain-smoking outside the venue!

Kudos to you for organising this, Alan. I’m looking forward to a conference that doesn’t also involve an 8 hour train ride.

@Cole: You are likely to see me doing the same outside only I will be either shaking with fear or have a huge smile on my face.

@Gavin: I have been to @media for the last 2 years, it is fun going away but I am looking forward to being closer to home.

Looking forward to meeting both of you if I get a chance, I have a feeling it is going to be one crazy day!

Nice one man, sorry for the delayed response… 4000mph life at the moment and forgot to come back and respond to you.

Man. it’ll be like war of the worlds outside the conference with all these lanky legs and atmospheric smoke.

    Nice!

Have your say...
