Hi Dan

I'm afraid to say that I am not fortunate enough to have dual monitor Ubuntu on the go. I have been having enough trouble with random freezes let alone trying to hook up the dual screen madness!

I think I am going to ditch my crappy ATI card and go for an nVidia card next. I am convinced that my motherboard doesn't like the card at all :(

Hey there, I love the clip. In fact, I've got XGL running with Emerald on a dual monitor setup as well. What I saw in your clip was the cube is actually both monitors, whereas my cube spins both individually. (which isn't as cool)

What dual monitor software are you using?? I'm running an nVidia card, with TwinView.

Thanks!

I have to say that I loved Ubuntu big time, it was fast, clean, responsive, the only issue I seem to have with it is when I install it on those bloody IDE drives you sold me lol!

Seriously though, give it a proper go, partition off a drive or use a virtual machine to test it out. Use nothing but Ubuntu for a month and you will begin to understand how nice it is after just a few days.

Yes you need to unlearn some stuff and learn new ways of doing things but IMHO I think it truly kicks ass!

One thing I should mention is that it is fairly straight forward to get Beryl running with Ubuntu 6.10 Edgy Eft, this version of Ubuntu comes with 3D drivers compiled so all you then need to do is go through the relatively straight forward 1,2,3 process of installing Beryl. Once you have done that you get your sexy wobbles and fire effects with rain on your desktop and nice drop shadows on windows etc.

Stick with it Nick, well worth it!

Your tagline really says it all. Makes me wish I had toyed with ubuntu for longer than the hour I fiddled with it. It made me feel dirty so I reinstalled windohs and scrubbed for a couple of hours. Tell me how to get that working environment via the ms stable please, kthxbye.
