Okay, I officially hate Web 2.0

Yep… I’m truely sick of it! Not that I am against the whole concept of using standard technologies to build nice applications but the whole buzzword thing is truely pissing me off. The web development industry or more specifically poeple who do not understand it and just use buzzwords for the sake of it just blow my mind in a really bad way.

Why the outburst you might ask??

Well, I’ve been nosing about on freelance sites checking out what is about because I’m in the market just now and lo and behold I stumbled upon this little beauty.

Web 2.0 CSS/XML Photoshop screen converisons with some PHP

Convert flat screen designs (Photoshop layered documents) and change them into HTML – the HTML must conform/pass to Web 2.0 standards and use the latest in CSS and XML/DHTML. The development of the website has to be Search Engine Optimised/friendly. We are building a website that offers user a chance to see a lot of offers without feeling overwhelmed by it. We can provide examples/ reference points but ideally would like the developer to come up with ideas.

WTF? Would anyone in their right mind even look at taking a job like that? It scares me that people are actually asking for things like this and even worse that people are going to claim that they can do it just to get work.

Someone please tell me I’m not loosing my mind but I almost feel like the characters in Harry Potter when they speak about “he who should not be named” only in my case it’s “that buzzword that should not be used” (err… unless it is another cool app I am likely to use like Netvibes).

UPDATE

Perhaps I should run through this site to get compliancy haha…
