Fighting heroes…
14 Feb 2006
As some of you might know I am a bit of a MMA fan and since getting Telewest Broadband I have had the pleasure of watching the UFC on Bravo every Sunday night. I used to watch UFC video’s years ago back when it first started but I have probably missed out on about 40 tournaments since then lol…
Now I know it is never live but it is certainly good and it regularly has me leaping from sofa to sofa with excitement when it comes to a good fight. Randy “The Natural” Couture Vs Chuck “The Iceman” Liddell for example… Now they have good fights! I was saddened to find out that Randy was retiring after his last fight with Chuck but fair play to the guy, still kicking ass at 42, he deserves to sit back and relax…
So who are my fighting heroes? Of course I would have to mention the greats like Muhammad Ali (Rumble in the Jungle is still one of the most spectacular fights I have ever seen), Tyson (even if he did turn into an ear biting sissy) & our own heavyweight champ Mr Lennox Lewis however I was wondering which modern day fighters people are into…
My personal favourites’ from the UFC would have to be Chuck Liddell & Matt Hughes. Chuck because he is just so damned dangerous and Matt because he is just technically brilliant. I also love to watch Randy fight as he has the heart of a lion and the skills to back it. I love watching good strikers finish fights but I come from a grappling background with Judo and so really appreciate a close fight on the ground. I am also looking forward to seeing what else Renato “Babalu” Sobral can do as I have seen him finish both standing up and by submission and quite impressively. Hopefully we will see the match up with Babalu & Chuck very soon!
I had a really interesting conversation with a friend last time I was back home and he was telling me a lot about some of the PrideFC fights and I am gonna deffinitely get me some of the tournaments on DVD but until then I think I will end up by leaving you a taster that has me wanting more…
May I introduce to you an absolute maniac… Bob “The Beast” Sapp … yikes! He weighs 350lbs and used to play American Football…
