I am a big fan of Macaroni pies and have tried loads from different bakers and shops but I think I have found the penultimate incarnation from Margiotta just around the corner from my work. I don’t think I have actually had a Macaroni pie in ages so I tried one yesterday from there and was very impressed, so impressed in fact that I had to go back today and buy 2.

Now what made this pie so special? For a start I have never had a Macaroni pie laced with mashed potato which was a nice touch, but the automatic smooth creamy cheesy flavour just sent me wild the minute it hit my taste buds.

I am no expert but I know a good pie when I taste one, I was so impressed that I had to not only tell you all about it but recommend you rush out and buy one as soon as possible. What I would like to know is if you are in Edinburgh, do you know of a Macaroni pie to rival this excellence or failing that, what your favourite munch from the bakers is…

Folk from my industry always say that content is king … and the contents of that Macaroni pie were definitely king. I even went as far a few years ago to include my love for Macaroni pies in one of my rhymes I was doing for a track my mate was writing, it was kinda done with a booming reggae man style voice and to be honest still amuses me to this day.

I guess I have gone on long enough about this pie but holy smoke it was good. To fully show my love for this pie I am even gonna take some photo’s for you to check out if you happen to be abroad and unable to get to Margiotta’s. Sad or what…
