Reluctant to hang up ones boots…

15 Jul 2005

Since moving down here to Edinburgh and also since I became a family man I have settled down a bit and dont play as much. I have been kicking about the Scottish Drum & Bass scene for the best part of 8yrs (partying for longer hehe) and I would just like to say that I am not quite ready to hang up my boots… in fact… I am far from it.

I am looking forward to getting to use this blog as a vehicle for writing some rhymes and getting back into using words again, I have written a lot of poetry over the years and spat a thousand rhymes and to be honest, I miss writing. I guess thats why I have been looking forward to getting the blog back on the go.

I know that I am older now and that my family come first but I would say that music, words, friends and laughter are the things that have made me who I am today and I should not have to give that up… just adjust the way that I do these things.

As you get older do your goals change? I know they’re supposed to but I still wanna be famous, I still wanna good job (I got one by the way), I still wanna have my family (oh yeah… I got one of those too), I still want to have a laugh and I still wanna have some really good friends. I dont think there is anything wrong with that!!

Well thats my brief take on things… I’m just excited because I have my first gig at Manga tonight and am away to write some rhymes for the first time in a while… It just made me think about all of the stuff I have written in the past and then I went on to rant…

yea dude you should def not hang up your boots, for starters you never know when you might need em! Also since you have a good job now and everything you can concentrate on writing rhymes for fun and performing for fun, in my oppinion peoples best work comes out when its just a case of doing it for yourself and for fun. My advice would be never hang up your boots, unless your boots dont provide you with enjoyment anymore of course!!
    peace to all.

Have your say...
